Continuing yesterday’s theme of duplicating shots in magazines, today’s shot is a near reproduction of the covor of Outside Magazine’s Summer Buyer’s Guide. I say “near” because they chose the Leatherman Skeletool* as their do-it-all multitool while I carry a Gerber Method*. This shot was taken in a lightbox with 3 speedlights (1xSB900, 2xSB600). This shot also marks the return of my 24-70 2.8 AFS fresh from Nikon Svc and good as new
If you’re wondering why I try to reproduce magazine shots, I do it hone my lighting skills. Reverse engineering someone else’s light helps me to improve my own techniques by forcing me to break out of my own lighting style. Plus it’s just fun to see if I can do it.
*The links are for information only I don’t get any sort of kickback if you buy either knife; if I ever post an image/link to product I’m involved with I’ll be up front about it.
